The UNESCO-protected highland plateau at over 2,000 metres – an open montane landscape of grassland and cloud forest that ends abruptly at World’s End, the sheer cliff edge where the plateau drops nearly 900 metres to the southern lowland plains in the most dramatic single viewpoint in Sri Lanka. The circuit walk to World’s End and Baker’s Falls rewards the early start required to arrive before the daily cloud closes the view, and the highland wildlife and endemic birdlife along the trail add natural richness to a walk that needs no wildlife to justify the journey.
